    Business Intelligence Analyst/Sr. Analyst acts as a catalyst for growing the business intelligence/data analytics capabilities of Canyon Ranch.  Develops, enhances and maintains reports, dashboards and analytics in the company’s BI platform.  Engages with business stakeholders across the organization to identify and capitalize on key opportunities for the development and enhancement of data analytics and reporting.  Advocates and fosters a data-driven approach to decision-making, actively contributing to the evolution of the company’s business intelligence culture.

    Reporting & Analytics

    Develop, enhance and maintain reports, dashboards and analytics in the Power BI platform.  Conceive and author DAX measures to allow for meaningful insight.  Perform parallel work such as data integration, ETL and data model development and enhancement to support this effort.  Work with contracted resources and the Canyon Ranch I.T. function as required to deliver best-in-class business intelligence to Canyon Ranch stakeholders.

    Business Engagement

    Engage with Canyon Ranch business stakeholders across a wide range of functions to identify and capitalize on key opportunities for data analysis and reporting enhancements.  Assist stakeholders to determine business needs and requirements for BI, including the development of performance metrics and KPIs.  Identify data sources and help the business to prepare data for integration.  Foster a data-driven culture through the adoption and proliferation of data management best practices.  Be an advocate of BI throughout the organization.  Provide BI usage training and support to constituents. 

    Business Analysis

    Assist business leaders as required in interpreting their data.  Communicate to leadership any observed trends in the data that might be relevant to the business and/or may identify business opportunities.  Similarly communicate any observed defects in the data and work with the business to remedy.

    Professional Development

    Advance and further develop knowledge of Power BI, DAX and Power Query through online resources and/or books, training courses, user groups or professional organizations.  Stay up-to-date on the latest Power BI functionality and developments.

    Special Assignments & Projects

    Contribute reporting and business intelligence expertise to special projects/assignments as required by the company’s expansion or ongoing operation.


    1 year of experience as a Data Analyst (required) ; 3+ years of experience as a Data Analyst or Senior Analyst (preferred)

    2+ years of experience with Power BI and/or other BI/data visualization tools such as Tableau or Qlikview (required)

    Microsoft Power BI certification (preferred)

    Bachelor’s degree (required); Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, or other quantitative discipline (preferred) -OR- Any combination of academic education, professional training or work experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    Strong knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, including proficiency in the DAX formula language (required)

    The ability to develop data extract, transfer and load (ETL) processes via Power Query, with a working knowledge of the M query language (required)

    Proven experience with using data visualization techniques to create meaningful reports and dashboards (required)

    Able to translate business requirements into elegant and user-friendly reports and dashboards (required)

    Eager to effectively articulate to a broad audience ideas and solutions of a complex/technical nature (required)

    Excellent written and spoken communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with business unit leadership (required)

    Experience with statistical programming languages such as R, Python, or SAS and/or experience with database programming languages such as SQL (preferred)
